Symbolism DescriptionThe white and red stripes are derived from the historical coat of arms of Bohemia (a white lion on a red field). The blue triangle was added to distinguish it from the flag of Poland and to incorporate the traditional colors of Moravia and Slovakia (when it was Czechoslovakia). The colors are also interpreted as white for purity and peace, red for bravery and strength, and blue for loyalty and vigilance. The colors are also Pan-Slavic.
