White symbolizes peace and the snow-capped peaks of the Julian Alps, including Mount Triglav. Blue represents the Adriatic Sea, rivers, and the sky. Red signifies the struggle for independence and the blood shed by Slovenians for their freedom. The coat of arms further symbolizes the nation: Mount Triglav is a national symbol, the wavy lines represent the country's waters, and the three golden stars are a historical emblem of the Counts of Celje, a significant medieval Slovenian dynasty.
